Less Oprah, more Uma
Yup it’s been awhile, but Bonnie Raitt will finally make a return appearance to “Late Show with David Letterman” tonight on CBS at 11:35 p.m. ET.
Wait. My bad. I mean Oprah. Oprah Winfrey will be making HER return appearance to “Late Show with David Letterman” tonight. I always get those two mixed up.
As a result, the Earth will stop rotating on its axis for 20 minutes.
It’s been 16 cold years since the two appeared together on a Letterman talk show. Back then, Dave was still on NBC and actually cared about his job, while Oprah was going through the latest fad diet I’m guessing.
The cynic would argue that Oprah, who once vowed never again to appear on Dave’s show, is just coming on to promote her new Broadway play, “The Color Purple,” and Dave just wants her on for the ratings. The trusting person would argue the same thing.
I have no interest in watching this, but I’ll probably end up watching it — TiVo-delayed — because I’m a sucker for hype. And who knows, maybe Oprah will give me a new car or something. That’s what she does these days, right? I’m sorry, don’t know much about daytime shows like “Oprah.”
More of a “View” guy.
