its hard not to get a little pissed about the blue and white vs. the red and blue, but when you look at the amount of things they got right, its pretty impressive. i don’t like how clumsy he looks either, but i think that will be corrected. i wonder how they’re gonna explain away the constant disappearance of his trailer.

Alex: I don’t think this is an official video. But that being said, trucks can become detached from their trailers quite easily. Well done.

trying to figure out how official this is. at the very least, it seems to be test footage that a cg company has created for the production.
also, its not the detachment that’s the issue…it the disappearance of said detachment.

Yes, I don’t think this color scheme is what will be in the movie. If it was…death to the filmmakers! But I also think I would prefer the look to be more like the cartoon, and less like the toy. I understand that the toys existed in 3-D space, like these computers models will simulate, but the toy version of Optimus never looked as cool as the cartoon version. Too tiny a head, for one thing. All that being said, can’t wait to see how they do this movie.

very true…i pray that the Ironhide character looks nothing like the awful toy

That is bad ass beyond bad ass. Yeah, the colors are off, but that’s easily changed.
He does look sort of shaky, but it does closely simulate the toy, which is more tied to the real world than the cartoon, like Andy says. There have got to be creative ways around this without making the robot look like it came from a completely diffferent vehicle. I’m sure that as we speak, people are getting paid good money to solve these very problems.

Some of them are getting paid bad money too I bet.

The explanation for the disappearance of the trailer is the same as why Megatron can shrink down to a small gun. Matter displacement technology. Fuelled by energon. When they transform any extra matter is transported to another dimension.

This is an awesome scene, and I can only hope the movie looks anything like it !
But this isn’t anything to do with the movie, This was posted a couple of months back on a 3D modelling site, it was a labour of love, and thats all. *sigh* I want more !

Yup, it was done by this guy

who’s a kick-ass 3d artist in his own right.
Can’t wait for the movie!
